This page provides details of more detailed research that I have carried out on specific areas of Egypt, and areas that may have influenced it during the Predynastic periods.  Because of the sheer volume of information involved in the detailed studies of these areas, each area will be given its own website. 

The first focal areas are the Faiyum, Cairo and the Western Delta. The research on this site covers the areas concerned from the Palaeolithic through to the First Dynasty, and provides contextual information about the rest of Egypt. Click on the link to go to www.faiyum.historians.co.uk.  The site hasn’t been updated in a while, but as there has been almost no work carried out in the Faiyum/Cairo area during these periods since I last updated the site, and none of the work that has been carried out has been published so far, the site is not actually out of date.

Following on from this, I have published my research into the Prehistoric Near East, which may be key to understanding the origins and development of Egyptian agriculture. The site is located at:

My current project is the prehistory of the Gilf Kebir and Gebel Uweinat in the bottom south-west corner of Egypt, near Libya, 650km from the Nile. Details of that research are dotted around this site on the “Through Time” pages, but it will soon have a website of its own.  I’ll publish the URL here when the site is complete, although it won’t be rocket science to guess what the URL is going to be! A lot less work has been done here than in the Faiyum/Cairo areas so this website will be considerably smaller.

Other areas that will follow I expect to be northern Africa, the Eastern Desert and Sinai, not necessarily in that order.
